LHU and HMCUSSH strengthen Vietnam–China academic connections, aligning Chinese Language training with workforce needs

On August 28, 2026, LHU, in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (HCMUSSH), organized the international scientific conference “Prospects for Chinese Language Teaching and Workforce Needs in the New Era”. The conference brought together more than 50 professors, researchers, experts, and lecturers from universities in Vietnam and China to discuss new developments in Chinese language teaching, educational technology, and workforce needs in the current context.

At the opening session, Prof. Dr. Luu Van Quyet – Vice Rector of HCMUSSH and Head of the Organizing Committee, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Lam – Vice Rector of LHU, delivered welcome remarks on behalf of their universities.

As a co-organizer, LHU also actively contributed to the academic activities of the conference, with its staff and lecturers serving as session chairs and presenting research papers in different sessions.

LHU shares perspectives on Chinese language workforce training in the digital era

At the session focusing on innovation in teaching, program assessment, and the demand for Chinese-speaking human resources, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Phuong Truong – Head of the Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, and Dr. Nguyen Huu Nghi – Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at LHU, presented a paper titled “Training Chinese Language Human Resources in the Digital Era to Meet New Business Requirements".

The presentation focused on Chinese language training in direct relation to technological changes and recruitment requirements, emphasizing that learners need not only foreign language proficiency but also the ability to gradually adapt to digital environments, professional requirements, and the practical needs of businesses.

Also at the conference, Vietnamese and Chinese scholars discussed new approaches, including the application of AI and educational technology in Chinese language teaching, curriculum innovation, “Chinese + Veterinary Medicine”, “Chinese + E-commerce”, and changes in the demand for Chinese-speaking human resources in Vietnam. 

LHU expands language and cultural perspectives

At the session on language, culture, and society, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh – Head of the Office of International Affairs at LHU, served as a session chair alongside professors from Minnan Normal University, Beijing Normal University, and Jinan University of China.

Dr. Luong Van Huy – Lecturer in Chinese Language at LHU, also presented a paper titled “An Intercultural Perspective on Chinese Films and Television Series in Chinese Language Teaching”. His presentation offered another approach to foreign language education by connecting language learning with cultural understanding and communication in intercultural environments.

The participation of LHU representatives in different sessions demonstrated the University’s efforts not only to expand international academic cooperation but also to bring practical issues in Chinese language education into discussions with scholars inside and outside the country.

Bringing academic value to students

For LHU, the value of international academic activities goes beyond research presentations. Faculty members’ discussions on AI, curriculum development, professional Chinese, business needs, and intercultural competence provide a valuable basis for the University to continue updating its teaching methods and training content in line with changes in the labor market.

In addition, the collaboration between LHU and Minnan Normal University, China, was further strengthened through the signing of an agreement to establish an internship placement point at LHU. On this occasion, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh – Head of the Office of International Affairs was appointed by Minnan Normal University as a practical training instructor for the Master’s program in Regional and Country Studies, opening up further opportunities for academic exchange, research, and international learning experiences for students.

Through these activities, students majoring in Chinese Language at LHU are oriented not only to develop strong foreign language skills but also to gradually learn how to apply Chinese to their professional fields, technology, and real-world working environments.

The conference once again reflects LHU’s direction of bringing language, technology, professional knowledge, and businesses closer together, helping students strengthen their adaptability and expand their career opportunities in an increasingly integrated environment.
